Be Part of the Collective Olympic Experience
Witness history as it happens. Must-See Moments were created to enhance a user’s Olympic experience with daily notifications of the highlights. The experience began with a countdown to Opening Ceremonies and continued during the games.
I worked on strategy and designed the user experience, prototypes and required branded visual assets. It was my small and fun contribution to NBC’s ambitious coverage of the Rio Olympics.

Final UX
A key decision we needed to make was which Follow Option to set as default. Stakeholders shared differing opinions. I focused on providing the user the easiest path to their desired option.
Default Option
After testing prototypes, the final decision was to put all options in an X1 carousel pattern with ‘On-screen & Text’ as default.
X1 research showed users selected the default option in the pattern most often.
Mobile verification Requirement
Enabling Text
On-screen is enabled instantly when the default option is selected. Text notifications require a mobile verification workflow.

Confirmation
Users would see a confirmation screen at the end of the process.

Don’t Follow
In the rare case a user wanted to stop receiving notifications they could access the Follow Options on X1 and select ‘Don’t Follow’ which would now be the default option. They could also reply STOP to text messages on mobile.
